Guppy's 30th Birthday Party

Having collected everyone from the bar, Guppy leads them back through to the house, where they enter through the kitchen.

The living room furniture has been mostly moved out of the way, and that's where the most of the party has been set up. The sofa and some chairs are around the edge of the room, and there's music playing. The kitchen is a bit small so the food is being taken through into the dining room. Also a little on the small side, but enough for purpose. All of the baby gates are open on the ground floor, but not on the stairs.

Upstairs, the spare bedroom has been set aside for any little people at the party. It's a bit quieter, with baby-sized food, some toys, and a DVD of Pingu playing.

Food!

Lots of yummy peanut-free food has been arranged in the dining room, along with some non-alcoholic and light alcoholic refreshments.

In the middle is a big cake, shaped like a fish, but with thirty candles still sticking out of it so that it looks more like a blowfish than anything else. The candles have already been blown out though, so the cake is fair game.

Free food is the best kind of food there is, if you ask Penny.

She takes a few bites of cheese and crackers, and off the veggie tray as well.

"Hi Penny, thanks for coming and for the present." Guppy says, grabbing a mini cake. "I'm going to open them all afterwards, so nothing gets trodden on."

A tall almost-teen is contemplating the veggies with bright purple eyes; he already has icing on his face, and is considering making a show of responsibility by consuming a few nutrients as well.

Mmmmmm, cake. Knox takes a big slice (though not too hugely big, since there is other food.

Squirrel ate before coming to the party--well, in the getting-ready-for-hibernation season he eats most of the time, but he made sure to have extra today, so as to avoid awkward incidents. Unlike that time at that fancy to-do in Washington...

Anyway, there are the soon-to-be Fennels, Joe and Coreen, over by the table.

You better believe the pregnant lady's gonna have some cake!

Mia sets herself up with a nice piece, a few of the different Earth foods (some of which she's sure she's never encountered before), and sits herself down with an appropriately non-alcoholic soda.

Knowing her luck, she thinks, doing this is going to give Cepheus as much of a sweet tooth as his father has. But if he's not kicking at anything too sensitive, she's not going to complain too much right now. The baby can kind of recognize that they're in a new place. There's none of the residual magic that he didn't know he was getting used to, but at least there's Mama's magic and Mama's voice.

Ben never comes to a party empty handed, especially not a birthday party. He places two gift bags on the table; one contains two decently priced yet fabulous bottles of wine and the other contains Fantastic Four blue fleece blankets and PJs.

Guppy will have to guess whose is whose.

There are two packages, one quite large, wrapped in circuit-board print.

The smaller is books: some medical texts, un-digitized, on sprites and their kin. The sections on binome anatomy ought to leave Guppy thoroughly confused.

The big box is stuffed with three plush animals, two large, one small. They give a soft crinkling noise when handled.

Never one to resist leaving a magic favor if possible, Mia (and Draco, as husbands are obligated to be listed) has left a small box for Guppy. Inside is a ring designed so that it looks like a three leaf clover on top. It's on a chain so he can keep it with him without risk of it falling into a patient or Fry's mouth.

I've left you a tri-ring. I'm not sure if it will work here, but if it does, then it should protect you from poison, paralysis, and confusion. I know how hard you work yourself sometimes and I thought a little help might be appreciated. And if it doesn't work, at least it's a nice ring.

Since Will's been sick, he didn't have the time he wanted to get back to Sherwood and Kate's been rather busy.

So from Bar there is package with fish warpping paper which has inside a simple, handmade book with leaves in the paper that says on it: Our Life.

In very careful handwriting inside, Will has written, A place for ye to put down yer stories for yer lad and yerselves. Will and Kate

Creche

A room has been set aside upstairs for small people who might be overwhealmed by the party. It's a bit quieter, with baby-sized food, some toys, and a DVD of Pingu playing.

Guppy and Frogspawn are taking turns to sit up there with Alex and any other babies that may come.

Friendly big people are welcome too of course! Or anyone who wants to wish Alex happy birthday from last week.

Squirrel brings Evan upstairs, a little warily--Ev's much less trouble without his henchsquirrels, and this time of year it's not like he wants to do much more than eat and relax, but you never know how he might react to being in a new situation, a new place.

So far so good, though.

If the baby will not come to the party, a small and manageable portion of the party must come to him! Enzo drops in after a while, to visit Alex and any other small persons who may have joined him.
