Having collected everyone from the bar, Guppy leads them back through to the house, where they enter through the kitchen.

The living room furniture has been mostly moved out of the way, and that's where the most of the party has been set up. The sofa and some chairs are around the edge of the room, and there's music playing. The kitchen is a bit small so the food is being taken through into the dining room. Also a little on the small side, but enough for purpose. All of the baby gates are open on the ground floor, but not on the stairs.

Upstairs, the spare bedroom has been set aside for any little people at the party. It's a bit quieter, with baby-sized food, some toys, and a DVD of Pingu playing.

"He's going to make a good dad." Guppy says. "May I feel?"

"I think so, too."

She smiles and nods.

"Oh sure."

She turns and scoots herself a little so Guppy can easily reach.

Guppy reaches over and gently feels the belly.

"Yep, lively little guy." he says with a grin. "I think that's a foot." he points. "Which means his head's probably over here at the moment. But he'll move around a lot before he's born."

"So I've noticed," she says with a sigh that's either laughing or long-suffering. "When will he settle into the position he'll be in when he's born?"

Not that she's completely looking forward to that. His feet will have to go somewhere even then.

"Near the time, probably after 34 weeks." Guppy says. "But it's not my field so I'd have to check. But what I can tell you is that you won't feel him kicking as strongly when he's nearly ready, because he'll be squashed in."

He smiles and removes his hand.

"Frogspawn suggested we have another one the other day."

"Okay, that's good to know. I know I need to keep in mind changes in his behavior. And that makes sense; feeling him kick is the first sign that he's running out of room, in a way. I've kind of been getting to know his sleep schedule already, too."

She's not liking the parts that wake her up in the middle of the night, but she knew that was going to happen anyway.

"Really? That would be lovely, I'm sure. Draco and I hadn't talked too much of that lately. We're concentrating more on Cepheus, as we should. But aside from the guidelines you had given before, I'm not really sure how long is good between children."

Mia shrugs.

"I guess I'll know more about how I feel on the subject once Cepheus is running about at home."

She feels a little sheepish, talking so much about herself, but it's really all she can do on this subject. The only people who know if Guppy and Frogspawn are ready for another baby are Guppy and Frogspawn.

"I think the answer is when you feel you're coping with the first one." Small smile upstairs. "I love Alex to pieces, but he's hard work. And the chances of the next baby being on the autistic spectrum too are fair, 25% at least, and being premature is even higher. I'm not dead set against it, I just think we need to think it through more."

"That makes sense. I know I would be concerned about other children if something were to happen with Cepheus."

She nods.

"I do hope it works out for both of you. Children are a blessing, but I know I'll learn soon enough that they're not always easy."

Guppy nods.

"Once this one's settled, then I'll be ready for more. If one should come along before then, well, we'll cope, but I want to make sure we do our best for Alex."

"I know you will. You're a good papa."

Beat.

"I hope Alex likes the present I got for him. There was a catalog that had the most adorable plush octopus and when you squeeze his little arms, they make music."

"Oh thank you, he loves soft things." Guppy says. "We've discovered that he'll let us dress him more easily if we're wearing fluffy fur-like gloves. It's a bit more fiddly but he doesn't kick up anything like as much fuss."

"Oh good! Do you think he'll like the sounds, too?"

She's sure that they could always take the batteries out if he doesn't. Or if they don't.

"The catalog also said the plush smells like vanilla. They were right. It won't be a problem, will it?"

She can always magic up a solution if it is.
