Reception

[guppy_sandhu]

Guppy's house. What little furniture there is has been mostly moved upstairs, apart from the threadbare sofa, bean bag and a few newly mended garden chairs.

The whole area is decorated with ribbons and flowers.

"Oh!" Asar-Suti says. "Yes, totally ages! What's her name?"

Teja forgoes the explanation that he never has fun, because he's Teja.

"Yes," he says. "Apparently, a cat has destroyed the cake, there are two older women very much at odds with each other, and there are many here that come from Milliways, and try to pass as men from this time."

A sweet smile.

"Almost makes me wish he was our son."

"That's sweet of you, but I can always just slip away every once in a while and trim some off. I've had a lot of practice at that."

"Amanda! It's been a long time, so you may not remember me, but I met you about a year and a half ago, at your Christmas party. I was Alex Knox's date."

She smiles warmly as she shakes the other woman's hand.

"It's lovely to see you again."

Rapunzel just thinks she looks a bit nervous, and smiles back, warmly.

"Great shoes."

"Something a bit odd and fun to give them a reason to get together in a larger group and enjoy each other's company."

"That's how Guppy explained it. Although who knows? Maybe they're onto something big and keep it themselves." He doubts it, but he likes Frogspawn, so why mess with her fun?

Amongst all the actual presents is a note. It's an IOU. In fact, it even says so:

IOU A PRESENT!

Or rather, we owe you. Meda's making something possibly a rug? Quilt? and we'll give it to you in the bar.

She gives him a soft kiss, because she can.

"There's a lot of non-bar people here; I'll have to be careful."

Amanda think back and then it dawns on her, "Oh yes of course." she laughs, "My appologies, It's been a bit longer then that for me."

"It's great to see you again." she glances over, "You two are still together I see."

"No apology needed! Milliways can be tricky that way."

She glances over at where Alex is being his usual curious and friendly self.

"We've been together since that night, actually. It was sort of the nudge he needed to get up the guts to ask me out."

she looks between the two, "You two look happy." this is what she needed to see. Her friends happy.

"How have things been back in Milliways?"

Medusa is rather too nervous to eat. Which is bad, given the amount of people around. And also that she can't stretch out her wings. For better or for worse, she can't really get drunk on mortal drinks, so she's hovering by the table, a cup of water in her hands, looking...

More than a little nervous, really.

(Her dress does help with that. A little. It's hard to be exceedingly nervous in a dress like this.)

She nods in understanding.

"I'm glad we know him," she says, looping her arms around his neck. "Glad we have this chance. And I'm glad that you care about him. Because I know one day, when we have children of our own, you'll love them too."

She doesn't know if she's stretching it when she says Draco loves Scorpius, but it's clear he cares for his alternate universe son.

As the music stops, he spins her out and back into his arms,

"Tis 'ow a weddin' should be, friends an laughter."

"We are. I didn't really expect to ever fall in love again."

She isn't sure how long it's been since Amanda was in the bar.

"It kind of strange right now. For some reason, the outdoor area is now a jungle, and the last time I checked there were little blobs of something that looks like dough wandering around. I have no idea if they're new patrons, or just something weird, so I've steered clear."

"Probably wise. If it's something funny I'm sure security is taking care of it." the jungle though has her thinking.

"Love is a wonderful thing."

"That was my thought. If they are new patrons, I wouldn't want to get jailed for violence if I kicked one, or something."

She smiles.

"No argument. What have you been up to since you've been away?"
