Jun. 14th, 2005 10:39 amIt is early in the morning. Guppy doesn't do mornings. All he wants to do is shower, get downstairs and get coffee. Unfortunately that isn't an option. He tries the bathroom door, and finds it locked.
"Mitzi? What are you doing in there? Are you okay?"
The bird squawks at him from inside and inwardly he sighs with relief. She didn't seem well last night, and he was somewhat concerned.
"Let me in please, Mitzi. I need to use that."
No answer. He tries the door again. Now he's worried because locking herself in the bathroom is not normal behaviour for the little flamingo. After asking her again several times, he decides that this has gone far enough. He goes as far away from the door as he can, then launches himself at it as he's seen colleagues at work do before now.
He goes through the door and lands in a large, deep pond. Fortunately he doesn't have anything other than his pyjamas on, so manages to surface easily and look around.
"Mitzi? Where are you?" he asks, looking for the distinctive flash of her pink feathers. A movement in the corner catches his attention, and he swims over to the shallow end.
"Come on Mitzi. You're ill and I want to help you. I don't if you've eaten anything you shouldn't have. I'll sort it out with whoever you took food from if that's the case. Come out from behind the sink and we'll sort this out."
She squawks at him and doesn't move. He reaches behind the sink and grabs her, without a lot of difficulty. This time she puts up no resistance. Very gently he pulls her out, then stares at her in amazement.
"You've gone green?"
Mitzi hides her now green face behind her green feathers and looks absolutely miserable.
"Come on, we need to get you to Hagrid or Sooty. They'll know what to do."
Realising that it's in the way, Mitzi gets rid of the pond and Guppy carries her into the bedroom. She puts up no resistance now, not fighting or biting or anything else."
