Guppy's 30th Birthday Party

Having collected everyone from the bar, Guppy leads them back through to the house, where they enter through the kitchen.

The living room furniture has been mostly moved out of the way, and that's where the most of the party has been set up. The sofa and some chairs are around the edge of the room, and there's music playing. The kitchen is a bit small so the food is being taken through into the dining room. Also a little on the small side, but enough for purpose. All of the baby gates are open on the ground floor, but not on the stairs.

Upstairs, the spare bedroom has been set aside for any little people at the party. It's a bit quieter, with baby-sized food, some toys, and a DVD of Pingu playing.

As Enzo opens the door to come back in, Alex escapes.

"Ahh!" Enzo drops the box, then hesitates. Should he catch him? Would that be worse?

"Alex, come back! I've got a new penguin for you!"

"Pegwin?"

Alex stops, and looks around.

"Good work Enzo." Frogspawn says, impressed. She darts out and closes the stair gate so he can't go downstairs.

He smiles oh-so-modestly. "You have to think fast in Games. I guess it's good practice for real life. Come on, Fry. You can have your penguin, but you have to come back inside."

Fry goes back inside and sits on a cushion.

"Yeah, but you still caught on faster than his Grandma." Frogspawn says.

"Because I downloaded the documentation." Enzo picks up the package and brings it back inside.

"What documentation?" Frogspawn asks. "Did Guppy give you one of the leaflets?"

"No, it's just an expression. I mean I listened to what he told me about him."

"Oh, well that still makes a nice change." Frogspawn smiles.

He considers the package. "Does he know how to open it, or should I do it?"

"He usually can, let's try him."

"Okay. Here you go, Fry. Open up." He puts the box down for him.

Fry gets the paper off, but stops at the cardboard.

Enzo raises a questioning eyebrow at Frogspawn.

Frogspawn opens the box for him.

"Oh look Fry, it's a penguin!"

"PEGWIN!"

Fry grabs the penguin, and starts to chew its beak.

"Say thank you."

"Tanyoo." Alex says, still chewing his new toy.

"You're welcome!" says Enzo, laughing. "It's not just a toy," he tells Frogspawn. "You can heat it in the microwave and it stays hot for a few hours, or you can put it in the freezer."

"Is it safe for him to be chewing? It doesn't have chemicals in does it?"

Small smile. "It's all right if not, he understands that some things shouldn't be chewed, he can still use it."

"It oughta be okay. The thermal stuff is in a kind of bag inside. We left a tag in the box, if you want to check."

You know. With the other ones.

"That's all right, I don't think he's in danger of rupturing it. It was a very kind thought, it can get nippy here."

"Okay, well, here." He passes the box over. "There's one for Guppy, too."

"Oh! How cute! Thank you Enzo." She digs in and feels how soft they are.

They are very huggable.

"You're welcome. Didn't think it was fair to just give 'em to the other two."

"You're such a thoughtful boy, no wonder Guppy speaks so highly of you."

Aw, shucks. Enzo says "Thanks," and blushes.

Frogspawn grins and ruffles his hair.

"Woop!" Alex says again. "Fordy love mat poit the batty wins!"

"Oh!" Frogspawn suddenly gets it. "Sorry Alex, no Wii tonight. Penguin tonight."
