Guppy would dispute the view that working with the elderly is boring, even on a normal day.
However, sometimes working in Accident and Emergency in the past has its advantages, like when one of the nurses asked this morning for a second opinion on a funny smell.
"No doubt about it." he says, raising an eyebrow. "Weed."
"What, here?"
Guppy nods, remembering something that Banks in the bar said the other day; you'd be surprised who's on drugs.
"Guppy, none of these patients can move from their beds unassisted, they've been here for months, where are they getting it from?"
"I don't know." Guppy says. "But I'll get onto Security, we'll find out. What patients do in their own time is their own business, but they can't smoke it on this ward and I don't want a dealer exploiting these patients."
They go into the other areas of the ward, noticing traces of the smell in at least three or four other places.
