Guppy looks out of his kitchen window, blinks, then goes outside.
It's a crop circle. Unmistakably a crop circle. And in the middle there's this big scorch mark.
He laughs slightly. Frogspawn's crop circle society were meeting here last night, doing the... festival of the skies preparation or something. This must be a practice attempt. Still, Guppy considers as he prods the scorch mark, they might have left his lawn in better shape.
He wanders around the front, and falls over a box. Peering inside, he already suspects what it will be by the 'Please help me' written on it.
The contents of the box make a feeble sort of meowing sound, and inside is one of the most adorable looking kittens Guppy has ever seen. So delicate, that it looks like it's been crafted out of cobweb. Appearances can of course be deceiving; the charming animal nips Guppy's finger as soon as he pokes it in.
He picks up the box and carries it in.
"Frogspawn? Someone's left a kitten outside. I assume it's for you. And it bites."
Already changed into her physiotherapist's uniform, his girlfriend sprints down the stairs and looks in the box.
"Awwww! How could anyone abandon adorable little you?" She picks the creature out and carries it over to her emergency kitten area. Guppy runs his finger under the tap.
"I know it's cute, but you're going to be late for work."
"I know, I know, it looks healthy enough, vets can wait until this evening. Ow, you're right, it does bite. Good job we're both good at spotting infection."
"Can we call it Bitey?"
"No! It's just a baby. Call it Cobweb." she fills the animal's water dish and shuts it safely in a pen before she washes her hands. "Okay, now we can go to work."
