Given that he might be off sick tomorrow, Guppy has decided that rather than worrying, he's going to try and get as much work done in the meantime.
Life never works like that.
His recently escaped patient, Jasper, has finally got a nursing home place. But the man looks anything but happy about it. Since nobody else seems to be addressing this, Guppy sits down next to him when he has a free moment.
"What's up Jasper?"
Jasper looks up at him.
"I don't want to go into a care home." he says quietly. "Why can't I go home?"
"Well, do you think you're able to look after yourself?" Guppy asks gently. "You can't go to the bathroom on your own."
"Bloody well can." Jasper snarls. "Just 'cos I didn't manage a couple of times when I escaped..."
"You were found lost in a shopping centre, with no idea where you were, and you hadn't eaten anything despite having money with you."
"I forgot." The man fidgets with his remaining usable. Guppy continues.
"Didn't someone discuss your options with you before now?"
"No. Just bunging me in a home. Do I really have to go in one doc?"
"No, you don't." Guppy replies. "Nobody can force you. But you'd still need help at home, and they'll only be there twice a day or so. It's not as bad as hospital, you know." he adds. "Go on, just give it a shot."
The man sighs. "Oh, go on then doc. "
