"Bubs, how long are you going to keep this up?"
"Six weeks. Until my mother comes back." Guppy carries on feeding the baby. "And you're going to have to wait until I'm awake before you can get me responding to 'Bubs'." Grin. "I've only just got the hang of looking around when you say Bubbles."
Holly plays with his hair. "Sorry, I'll stop if you don't like it."
"No, I don't mind, you can call me whatever you like as long as you don't do it at work."
"Would you respond to anything at work?"
Guppy looks up. "Oh come on, I'm not that out of it. I've not made any mistakes."
"Yet."
"Come on then, what would you do differently? I'm doing everything I can."
Holly moves around and puts her hand on his on the bottle.
"I'd stop trying to do it all myself."
Their eyes meet. Guppy sighs slightly.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to push you out. But it doesn't seem fair to lumber you with Anita when she's my responsibility."
"She's your mum's responsibility Guppy. And you're mine. And Guppy, she's adorable, I don't mind helping you. And who better to assist you with your baby worries than a consultant specialising in emergency paediatrics?"
Guppy blinks at that. He'd... forgotton.
They sit down, Guppy taking Holly through all his childcare arrangements, her feeding and sleeping regimes. Holly picks up a red pen and makes a couple of small changes.
"You've timetabeled for Anita but you haven't timetabled for yourself. You've barely even accounted for travelling time." She squints at this. "And according to this, you have a ... thirty hour body clock?"
She looks up at him. "Guppy, how long have you been doing this?"
Beat. "Um... nearly three years. Sorry?"
She shrugs. "Well, it hasn't killed you yet, but remember you're working harder, okay? You can get extra time. Use it to rest, not just to get more work done. And when you're here? How about we play mummies and daddies together for six weeks?" Cheeky grin. "Never know, might be fun."
