May. 26th, 2005 03:25 pmGuppy takes the flamingo upstairs and runs a bath of lukewarm water for it, into which he pours the algae that he got from the bar. Mitzi stares at it, thinking it a pretty poor replacement for a pond, but appreciating the effort he's putting in here.
Guppy goes back into his bedroom to find a fluffy towel he got a while back, in case the little bird gets cold and wants something to snuggle into. When he comes back into the bathroom the floor disappears from under his feet and he falls with an enormous splash.
He's not a bad swimmer, but he wasn't expecting to fall into a pond in his bathroom fully dressed and wearing shoes. He goes under, swallowing more pond water than he would like and struggles to get back to the surface. He gasps for breath before going under again. Pulling off his shoes and throwing them to the side, he manages to get back up. He grabs onto the door frame and pulls himself out, coughing up a load of pond water.
Mitzi seems quite amused as she stands at the other end of the bathroom in the shallow end, watching him with her cheeky eyes. Maybe eight feet was a little deep, but she likes a good swim. And she's left Guppy with the sink and all the important stuff, he just has to paddle between them.
Guppy isn't sure he likes having a pond in his bathroom. He also knows that if Mitzi can do that, she may also be able to do other magic stuff that he won't be able to cover up back home. But then again, there could be advantages...
"Mitzi, please can you remove the pond? I need the bathroom to be a bathroom."
The flamingo winks at him and shakes her head, showing that she understands, but is not willing to comply.
I suppose flamingos need a pond too.
"Well would you mind making it a bit shallower? After all, you are only a little flamingo."
Mitzi tilts her head on one side and considers his request. Then she closes her eyes and seems to glow slightly. Small stepping stones appear between the door and important things, like the toilet and sink. Cautiously, Guppy treads on the stones to get to the sink to brush his teeth. As he steps on the fourth one, it disappears and he falls in the pond again. More prepared for it this time, he grabs the next, real stepping stone and pulls himself up. By the time he's got the water out of his ears, he realises the flamingo is laughing at him. He gets up and brushes his teeth without talking to her, feeling sick with the pond water he's swallowed. Sensing that she's upset him, Mitzi flies up onto the sink and snuggles against his hand, staring up at him cutely. How can he resist such sweetness. He gently strokes the flamingo.
"Okay, leave the pond here for now. We'll work something out in the morning. Good night."
Much more cautiously, he makes his way back to the bedroom, trying not to get pond water everywhere. He manages to avoid another trick stepping stone. Mitzi looks disappointed, and stands preening herself as he turns out the main light and closes the door.
