It's a happier scene in the Sandhu household today. Guppy smiles to watch his mum holding Anita.

"I... I didn't expect to miss her." she says. "But I did. It all felt so much better when I realised I wasn't the only one who didn't bond with their baby. I know it's going to take time but... I realised I don't want to lose her."

Guppy smiles a little more.

"Good. I'm glad we got somewhere. You'll soon have everything you want again."

His uncle speaks up.

"Gurpreet, we want to know where you think you stand. In this family."

Guppy considers for a moment.

"At peace with you two, I hope. Guardian of Ani, not parent. Black sheep to everyone else but Nana."

Awkward silence. Then his mother sighs a little.

"I tried with the family on your behalf, a little while ago, just as you now did for me. I'm sorry Gurpreet. I don't think you're going to get more than tolerance."

Guppy laughs slightly.

"I don't need anyone who decides who's in or out based on what a load of other people think. Sorry mum, I have an adopted family now who treat me as family should, I don't miss them."

He gets up and kisses his little sister. "Call me if you need me."

"Wait." His uncle stands. "There's a way you could sort this out."

Guppy glances back. "What?"

"Well, if you marry someone desirab-"

"No thank you. I've seen your matchmaking skills." Little smirk. "And I have a girlfriend, she's called Frogspawn and has green streaks in her hair. You'll like her."

He smirks at the two of them before heading out.
