Guppy jerks awake, covered in sweat, to find Holly shaking his shoulder. He shoots bolt upright.
"Whargah?!"
She shakes her head at him in despair.
"It's okay, just breathe." She looks him up and down, noting he's not too panicky. "What on Earth was all that about?"
"What was what about?"
"'Help, help the dream is real, please don't drown me again?'"
"Oh, I yell lots of stuff." It's not that he doesn't want to tell her, but he doesn't want her to worry, or try and make him stay here. "And it's probably because I can't swim very well."
"Then you should learn." Holly says, cuddling him. "Then you'll have one less thing to be scared of."
"I never have time. But I'll try and make more."
Holly glances up at him.
"You're already pushing it, I can tell. There's something going on in your other life isn't there?"
"It's all the same life Hol, and yes. But my family and friends are there, it's a second home to me, so I have to do what I can, okay?"
Holly nods. "Guppy, I don't mind. Just try not to put me in a position when I have to cover for you, because if it comes out we'll both be in trouble."
"Have I ever let you down yet?"
"No, but just because it's in a different dimension doesn't mean moonlighting isn't pushing your luck, Guppy."
"I know. Thanks Holly."
"What for?"
"Not making me choose."
