Jun. 16th, 2007 09:11 pmSometimes, life is unfair.
It certainly was for most of Guppy's patients today. Severed finger taking up most of his afternoon, and comforting the wannabe girlfriend of the severed finger man afterwards.
She'd smiled and thanked him, and they'd both gone away a little more content in the world.
In another universe, she would destroy him
And then he walked home, alone. Abs had gone out by the time he got in. It was raining.
He phoned his grandmother. She'd gone out.
He phoned his mother. She didn't pick up. He suspected she'd bought one of those clever phones with caller ID.
As a last-ditch attempt, he went to talk to the cat. Who turned out to be... out.
The portal that normally resided in his bathroom had apparently... gone out.
He flopped onto the sofa and turned on the TV. Bristol A+E flashed up.
Can't stand medical dramas. He thinks irritably. They're so unrealistic. Especially this one, half the actors only have two facial expressions and they have the same jargon in Resus over and over again. Whilst pulling the fish-expression and thinking about the tension pneumothorax epidemic, he turns it off.
He sits for a moment.
Then he grabs his coat, scribbles a note and leaves it on the table.
Gone out.
