Problem 1. Curse/Writers trying to kill me.
Solution. Nobody is trying to kill me. Drop it.
Problem 2. If Father gets reported to the GMC, the whole family is going to disown me.
Solution (?). Go and talk to Mum. (?)

Guppy hesitates just outside the house. He checks his father's car isn't there then goes back to the door.
He pauses.
He goes around the back and looks through the window. Then he goes back to the door and picks up the knocker. It's shiny. Always is. He bangs it, quite softly.
He checks his father's car hasn't appeared since he went around the side of the house.
NOW you're being paranoid.
He hears the little clicking noise the door makes, and gets back to it just in time to ram his foot in it.
"Mum, please. I need to talk to you."
"Remove your foot from the door Gurpreet."
He fights to get eye contact. She won't give it to him.
"I..."
"I have nothing to say to you. You shouldn't have come here."
She pushes on the door.
This is going to hurt, but it's the only thing I can think of.
He puts his hand on the edge of the door and removes his foot.
"AAARRRRGGGHHH!"
Sorry mum. I know this is hurting you as much as I'm pretending it's hurting me.
Actually it does hurt quite a bit.

The stunt has the desired effect. The door is opened and she's by his side.
"I'm sorry. Are you okay?"
She looks at his hand, examining it with a mother's eye. She sighs.
"I suppose you have to come in now. I can't exactly leave you bleeding out here."
They step inside, his mother pushing him through to the kitchen.
"Put it under the tap and I'll find you some plasters."
She leaves the room and Guppy examines his bleeding knuckles.
Nothing broken, thank goodness. Still just as well it's my left hand. Thank you brain for at least coming up with a sensible side to a thoroughly stupid idea.
As his mother returns he winces, examining his marginally bruised finger.
"Is it broken?" She asks, coming over and looking at it. Guppy nods.
"Yeah, I think I've broken this bone here."
His mother looks at him, then smacks him across the face.
"Gurpreet! You haven't been able to lie to me since you were a little boy. How dare you frighten me like that? Get out right now!"
"Mum, please..."
"Don't you Mum please me! You know what you have to do if you want to carry on being a part of this family. I have nothing to say to you. I love your father, and I will stand by him no matter how you betray this family. Now get out!"
"I love you."
"And I love you too Gurpreet. But don't make me choose between you and your father."
She opens the door.
"I am ashamed of you. You have betrayed your family and brought disgrace upon us all. If you don't stop this then I will never speak to you again, neither will the rest of the family."
Guppy doesn't move. He knows this may be his last chance.
"You don't have to choose. I can't let him hurt people. He need never know you still see me."
"Get out Gurpreet. And don't come back unless you stop your father's disgrace."
Numbly he steps out of the door and hears it slam behind him.
