Guppy and Helen step out of the phone box into a street in Holby. It's cloudy, and looks a little like rain. Passers-by push past, in a hurry, without caring if they barge into anyone. There is a gloom about the place.

Guppy smiles at Helen.

"Welcome to Holby."

Guppy grins. "Come on through and I'll put the kettle on. Do you reckon Nala's house trained? Because I only rent my room here, and I don't really want to draw the attention of my landlord. He doesn't even know I have Scampi yet."

He shows Nina into the sitting room, then spies a hand draped over the side of the sofa. The TV is on playing cartoons. Guppy put the kitten down, creeps over to the back of the sofa and peers over. Then he pokes the sleeping Abs.

"You're going to get a stiff neck sleeping like that."

Abs grunts when Guppy pokes him, and opens his eyes.

"Oh hi Guppy, thanks."

He emerges from the sofa and spots the kitten.

"You ain't taking in another one are you?"

Then he spots Helen and smiles.

"Hi, I'm Abs. You must be Helen."

(ooc--I assume you mean he shows HELEN into the sitting room?:-P)

Helen smiles warmly. "I have no idea about Nala...hopefully we won't have to find out," she says, clinging to Nala's lead, thus keeping the dog from zooming all over the house.

She smiles at Abs. "And you would be right." She holds out her free hand. "The dog is Nala, and the cat is Elena. They're both mine."

[ooc: Erm yeah... sorry about that. Brain temporarily deactivated *resets*. I'd only just got up.]

Guppy goes to make a cup of tea as Abs shakes Helen's hand and smiles.

"Do you take milk and sugar Helen?"

"Just a little bit of milk," Helen tells him. Nala takes this opportunity to sniff Abs enthusiastically, and then begin licking his face.

Abs grins and pets the dog.

"I thought we agreed you were barred from the kitchen?" he says with a grin as Guppy comes back with the tea.

"Don't ever let him cook for you." he whispers to Helen.

Nala looks up at Abs, happily.

Helen grins at Guppy's arrival with the tea. "I have heard that he can't cook...but how badly can you mess up tea?" she asks, pulling out a bag of dog treats from her bag.

"I only burned one kettle. He's exaggerating."

Guppy puts down the tea.

"I'm just going to get Scampi. He'll be hungry."

He disappears off upstairs for a moment.

Laughing, Helen takes her tea and takes a sip. "This isn't bad!" she calls after him as he heads upstairs. Nala begins to gnaw on the sofa, but is quickly given a dog toy by Helen. "Sorry." she tells Abs, frowning

Abs grins. "It's okay. I'll tell Harry it was Guppy."

As Guppy comes downstairs with the kitten he gets up.

"I'm going to go crash. Nice to meet you Helen."

He winks at Guppy and goes upstairs.

Helen grins. "Thanks." She smiles at Guppy. "It was nice to meet you too, Abs. Sleep well!"

She catches the wink and stifles a laugh.

Guppy goes slightly red and goes to get Scampi's bottle. He comes back and sits on the sofa with the kitten.

But Scampi isn't interested in food now.

Kitten!

He scrambles off Guppy's knee and scampers over to Elena in the box, putting his paws up and sniffing her.

Helen sits down, taking Nala with her, and entertaining her with a dog toy. Elena, meanwhile, Meows happily when she sees Scampi and bats at the inside of the box. "You can see if they'll play together," Helen suggests to Guppy, while trying to keep Nala occupied.

Guppy opens the box and the two kittens bounce at one another. Elena is much bigger than Scampi, but he doesn't seem bothered. He purrs and pounces on her playfully.

Then he catches sight of Nala.

There is a second where he freezes. Then he shoots up Guppy's jumper and sits there, trembling.

Nala doesn'teven notice Scampi. She's too occupied in the tug toy. Elena thinks that this is all part of the fun and chases him, pouncing on him. Helen sighs. "Oh dear..." But she can't leave Nala.

"Ouch! My chest hair!" Guppy squeaks as Scampi, thinking that Elena is the dog attacking him, wriggles wildly from inside Guppy's shirt. He picks up Elena gently and puts her back in the box, then detaches Scampi and picks up the bottle. He rubs Scampi's nose and persuades him to feed to calm him down.

Elena reluctantly goes back into the box. "Sorry." Helen apologizes, stifiling laughter. "Maybe Scampi will get used to Nala." She sips her tea. Nala, completly oblivious to this whole situation, is happily chewing her toy.

"I hope so. I don't think my nipples can take that again."

Scampi sucks at the bottle, chewing at it a little. After a while Guppy stops him, then pours the remaining formula into a small dish for him to lap up.

"He just got teeth the other day. He'll be ready for solids soon."

Scampi seems calmer when Guppy is between him and the dog.

Helen laughs softly. "Scampi's growing up." she says in a jokingly motherly tone.

She looks at Elena's box. "Think I can let Elena back out?" Elena is meowing, loudly and batting at the box. By now, Nala is fully engrosed in her chew toy, enough so that Helen doesn't even have to hold it anymore, so she lets go.

"Yeah, sure. Sorry I just wanted to get Scampi detached from my nipples."

Helen blushes a little and, leaving Nala with her chewtoy, lets Elena back out of her box. Elena sniffs around the room a little and then runs over to where Scampi is, meowing happily. "That's fine," she tells Guppy, going back over to sit with Nala and keep her out of harm's way. "Hopefully, they'll all grow to like each other."

"I'd imagine a dog would be a bit daunting to a little kitten like Scampi. Especially as he hasn't really met any before."

He watches the kittens playing.

"The portal back to Milliways arrives in my room in about five minutes."

Helen smiles. "Quite Possibly. Hopefully, he'll adjust though." She sighs a bit. "I guess I should get ready to go then, hm?"

Guppy looks a little awkward. "It's not that I want you to go. It's just... I'm going to fall asleep on you soon. I've been up since 4pm yesterday. Unless you want to stay here whilst I'm asleep."

He smiles, but he looks really tired.

Helen grins. "I'll let you get sleep, dear." She stands up and collects Elena in one hand, puts the food/toy bag over her wrist, and takes Nala's lead. Nala insists on keeping her toy with her, and Helen doesn't argue. "Alright..." Helen says. "I think I'm ready to go!" She smiles warmly at Guppy.
