Yesterday was... annoying. Guppy had been thinking about it quite a bit since. It wasn't uncommon for his locker to get broken into a work (these days, he didn't think there was much point in locking it), but something about this occasion seemed odd. The only thing that was taken was his anxiety medication, and really, there wasn't much of a market for legal drugs that made you drowsy and slightly irritable for a few hours.

His mind is taken off this when he arrives home, having collected Anita from one of his cousins, to find a big lump of... tree has smashed a window. He groans and looks up to see if the tree is likely to drop any more, then gets his phone out.

"Nana? Would you mind having Anita tonight please? I now have two broken windows and the house is freezing... thanks, you're an angel, I'll be right over."

He goes out, he comes back. Still glass everywhere. No magic tidy fairy it seems. With a sigh he puts the kettle on and starts clearing up, wondering where he can find a bit of cardboard or wood to cover the hole with. Shoving the last tea bag into a mug (I could have sworn I bought tea not that long ago) he wanders outside to where the hippies were recently camping to see if they left him anything useful. No such luck, they were far too ecofriendly to litter. In the end he settles for a nappy box covered in a bin bag.

And then he sits down. Drinks the tea. Realises he forgot to take the teabag out and fishes it out. Is about to throw it away when he notices something...

Across the top of the teabag is a row of stitches. Needle and thread type stitches.

For a moment, he just stares at it, bewildered, yawning slightly. Then he looks in his bin, and notices all his other unused teabags are in there.

Feeling... incredibly calm, but slightly irritable, he puts the half cup of tea and the teabag down and picks up a rolling pin. Carefully, making very little noise, he moves around the house, looking in cupboards and behind closed doors, until there's only one left. The cupboard in the spare room. Anita's room. He opens the door, and swings the rolling pin inside at about stomach level.

There is a satsifying 'Oof!', and his uncle falls out. Guppy swings a foot into the man's armpit, makes a slow and slightly unco-ordinated grab for his arm, locks his hand onto his uncle's and twists, putting pressure between two of the knuckles.

"Ow! Stop that!" the man yells, unable to move.

"Piss off." Guppy says slowly, icily. "Very clever. Very fucking clever. Now tell me what you put in my tea or I'll break your arm."

He gives it a little twist to make his point. His stepfather yells again.

"I don't know what you're talking about!"

"What, so you're hiding in my cupboard for kicks?" Twist. "You know something? A lot of people I know, my real family, would be very keen to meet you. One thing I've learned is that people feel very indignant when they see violence directed at people who aren't good at defending themselves." Twist. "Now tell me. What was it?"

"It... it was your own medication, okay?"

"I thought as much. Make me look like I'd overdosed so social services would take Anita. Well Anita's with your mother, so it didn't work. How much did you put in?"

"Four. Ground up. OW!"

Guppy twists the arm slowly, calmly, taking some pleasure in doing so.

"Well then, you're very lucky they're only benzodiazepines and I only had half a mug. You disgust me. You aren't fit to be a parent. You only have to wait five and a bit weeks, I wasn't going to stop you seeing her at all. Give me one good reason why I shouldn't report you for two counts of assault and two of property damage?"

"Because after the six weeks is up, you'd never see Anita or your mother again." The man snarls. "How stupid are you? When will you learn that your mother will always put her husband first? She followed me to the other side of the world, and left you bleeding and broken." Turning to a sigh. "Gurpreet, come on, I was just starting to like you when all this happened. Can't we go back to that? Please? I'm sorry I hurt you, I'm sorry I've messed up again. I'd never hurt your mum or your sister, and it's breaking your mother's heart that you won't let me have Anita back."

Guppy stands back and lets the man up, stepping around him and pulling a pendant out from under his jumper.

"See this? This is the sign that I am protected by the Rand clan." He moves closer as, blinking, the man looks at the pendant.

Guppy knees him in the groin and pushes him into the bathroom, closing the door and putting a chair in front of it.

"Shut up you... tart. I'll let you out when I've decided what I want to do with you. Which'll be when my anxiety meds wear off."

He stops only to grab a black pen, then wanders off to the bar.
